Calling all actors!  Want a chance to perform, get some acting tips, and win awards?  Would you like to spend the day with students from all over California who enjoy Theatre as much as you do?  Here’s your chance!  Registration forms are available NOW for the Middle Stage Theatre Fest, where you can meet new people, see great performances, and put your acting skills to the test.  

 

There are only 15 spots available, so register right away!  Forms are available in room O-6.   See Mrs. Caston for more details.

New News:

  • Calling all actors and other theatre-lovers:  Want a chance to perform, get some acting tips, and win awards?  Would you like to spend the day with students from all over California who enjoy Theatre as much as you do?  Here’s your chance!  Registration forms are available NOW for the Middle Stage Theatre Fest, where you can meet new people, see great performances, and put your acting skills to the test.  There are only 15 spots available, so register right away!  Forms are available in room O-6.   See Mrs. Caston for more details.
  • The library will be closed during lunches and class periods beginning Tuesday, December 13th through Friday December 16th due to textbook check-in week.  Should you need to return a library book, please do so before or directly after school. 
  • Students don’t forget to clear your textbook record before you leave for winter break to prevent any possible delays in receiving your term 3 textbooks in January.  To clear your record, bring your term 2 and any term 1 textbooks you have not yet returned to the library so we can check them in and off of your record.  If you have Social Science and/or science this term your classes are already scheduled and you should bring those textbooks with you to school on those assigned days.  Show your GRIT, especially your responsibility by clearing your record!
  • Have you been to the new Golden One Center? Do you want to see a Kings basketball game with your friends? Do you want to go on the court before the game to high five the players? Join Smedberg Middle School at a Kings game in February. Tickets are only $25 to sit in our group section and flyers are available on school loop, in the office, and in the student store. For every ticket that you buy, you get one entry into the raffle to go on the court for the high five line. Prices will go up in January, so buy your tickets early to save money. You can turn in the order form and money to the student store at lunch.
  • It’s that time of year again, Winter Funderland is on December 16th from 12:45-2:15pm. You can purchase your tickets starting on December 14. Each ticket costs 50¢ and the entrance fee is one ticket. Clubs will have booths to sell food or crafts or have games. The tickets are used for buy the food and craft items and to play games. Please come join us at the cafeteria after school on December 16.
  • The December Smeddy Bucks raffle will have three winners – you can win a $15 Starbucks gift card. There is just one week left for this drawing, so get your entries in by Thursday, December 15th and the winner will be announced on the 16th before we go on break!

 

Athletics:

  • Attention sports fans, today the boys and girls basketball teams will be hosting Rutter in the main gym. The boys game starts at 4:15 and the girls will start at 5:30. Tickets are free with an ASB sticker on your ID card and $1 without.  Doors will open at 3:45 so make sure if you are waiting you are in the front of the school and not in the quad. Hope to see you there, go Wolverines!
  • Attention all 7th grade boys and girls interested in coming out for basketball this season. Conditioning will start next Tuesday the 13th and run the rest of the week. Girls 7th grade conditioning will run from 3:30 to 5:00 and boys yours will go from 6:00 to 7:30pm. Make sure you turn in a completed physical form to Mr. Woodson in L15 by Tuesday January 3rd in order to be eligible to play.

Please join students, families, local businesses, and post-secondary partners at EXPLORE: Map Your Future: K-12 Career Pathways Exposition on Thursday, January 26, 2017, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., at the SES Hall, 10428 E. Stockton Blvd., Elk Grove, 95624.

 

The event is appropriate for children of all ages and will include interactive activities to ensure their engagement and expose them to a variety of career paths.

 

The RIASEC Test is attached to assist is determining possible career pathways.
